Advanced Search is a tool that will allow Cortico platform users to quickly explore your conversations. It's based on a research prototype developed by the MIT Center for Constructive Communication. It uses AI-powered search to let you ask deeper questions about your conversations than a simple keyword search.
You must be logged into an active Cortico account to use Advanced Search. You can navigate to the tool by selecting Advanced Search on the side navigation bar while on the Cortico platform.
That will open Advanced Search in a new window. Once in the tool, use the Sources field to select which collection or corpus you would like to search through. You can make multiple selections here to search across collections or corpora.
Enter the topic you would like to explore in the search bar. For more advanced search options, select the More Options under the search bar.
Under More Options, you're able to change the framing of your question, restrict the search range by date, change the format of your results (Analyze Input), and even adjust the AI-Analysis model used.
The menu items under Analyze Input have the following results:
- No analysis (search only) - Will only give you direct quotes from conversations that match your search, no AI summary/analysis
- Relevant speaker turns [top 100] - Provides up to 100 direct quotes related to your search in addition to AI-powered analysis
- Relevant speaker turns [top 50 with context] - Provides up to 50 direct quotes, but casts a wider net by analyzing what happened just before and just after the relevant quote.
Once the search has completed, depending on your configuration, the tool will return (1) a list of speaker turns that are most relevant to the topic you are searching for and (2) an AI-generated analysis of the search results. The list of relevant speaker turns will be located in a column to the left, and the AI-generated analysis will appear in the column on the right.
Both the relevant speaker turns and analysis can be exported by selecting the corresponding download buttons.
Any search you make is saved under Past Searches, so you can revisit it later and compare results to other searches. You can delete your search history by clicking the gear icon at the top right of the page and selecting Delete all search history.
