How does Cortico protect youth privacy?
We follow partner organizations’ existing consent processes and offer sample materials if needed. We process audio only (no video is stored or analyzed) and begin every conversation with clear consent from participants. We also help youth understand the purpose of recording conversations, who will hear them, and the difference between a shareable community story and a private conversation.
You can read more about our privacy policy here.
Who owns the recordings and data?
Our partners are owners and stewards of the conversation data they collect. They control what is uploaded, how it’s used, and what is removed. Cortico does not share youth data with third parties outside the project. If a partnership ends, we return transcripts, audio files, and sensemaking outputs to the partner and delete them from our systems.
Can someone remove their contribution later?
Yes. Participants can request redaction or anonymization at any point in the process. We build in opportunities to review outputs before anything is shared.
